the small head start

What is it about

How often has learning content from seminars, books or e-learning courses helped you to achieve demonstrable success? Your track record may be just as sobering as that of many others.

Despite high-quality content, experienced trainers and great commitment, many people are often unable to generate success with the new knowledge. What is missing is an operating system that ensures secure implementation. Because without implementation, the most ingenious tools and techniques are worth nothing.

Refreshing honesty from a successful trainer

According to author, entrepreneur and success coach Jeff Olson, there is more effective “how to” literature available today than ever before. However, as an entrepreneur and convinced producer of personality training, he has come to the sobering realization that only a few people have great success with it. Many remain unsuccessful.

Despite high-quality content, experienced trainers and great commitment, many people are often unable to generate success with the new knowledge. What is missing is an operating system that ensures secure implementation. Because without implementation, the most ingenious tools and techniques are worth nothing.

The core message of the book

Without an implementation system, even the most ingenious techniques are unlikely to produce success. It’s like an app without an operating system. In this book, you will find out exactly what such an operating system or mindset can achieve, how it works and why it is so important for personal success. It goes far beyond the usual successful literature.

My rating

I rate the practical suitability of Slight Edge with a 9 out of 10. Anyone who invests their personal and further training will once again realize how important implementation is. Taking care of the operating system first follows the tried and tested logic of laying the foundations first and only then building the house.

What I missed in this book were concrete instructions. However, since I found the idea for such an implementation guide in the book “The four disciplines of implementation”, this did not diminish my enthusiasm – on the contrary. Both books complement each other perfectly and are an absolute insider tip for sales and training professionals – or those who want to become one.

Take Aways

  • Activities that prevent failure can also enable success – if only we would do them tirelessly. If a salesperson saves his turnover by calling off all his open offers at the end of the month, he could do this every day in the future.
  • It is not brilliance that leads to success, but constant, tireless action. Someone who starts to reduce their daily expenses in the middle of the month (e.g. by writing them down) in order not to end up in the red at the end of the month could extend this action to the whole year.
  • These small, tireless actions are very easy to do. But it’s even easier not to do them. It is therefore important to have an implementation strategy (described in detail in this book) and to supplement this with an implementation system (such as “The four pillars of implementation”).
  • Each of us has complete control over whether we steer the rest of our lives towards success or failure. This happens with the daily decisions.
  • We know what we need to do to be successful. Namely, to continue doing the things that have brought us forward so far.
