Are you one of the few who are living their dreams? Or one of the many who are still dreaming? How often have you undertaken things with great enthusiasm only to realize later in frustration: once again nothing has been achieved, once again nothing has been accomplished. Such admissions hurt.
Dwarves and giants of action
Whether it’s sport, health, finance or business, we often know exactly what needs to be done. But we simply don’t do it. After all, knowledge is not power. Or it simply has too little power over our inner bastard.
It would be so easy to jog every day, eat 4 portions of fruit, not spend money on cigarettes or manage your employees in an appreciative manner. We are happy to engage in discussions about this. But we also like to talk about the best methods, strategies and tools. It is not uncommon for discussions to continue until the problem comes back into focus. Not to act now, but to continue the discussion.
We have long known that it is not the big discussions but the small daily actions that lead to great results. These small actions are extremely easy to do, but even easier not to do. This is the reason why so many good New Year’s resolutions and great business strategies are never implemented.
But that could be over now. Sean Covey and three other implementation professionals have written a great book on the subject of implementing strategies safely and achieving goals successfully. Its implementation concept is already being used in 1400 companies. A good supplement to this is the ingenious book “Der kleine Vorsprung” with a simple but no less effective implementation philosophy. The book contains many practical examples. I will go into more detail about this book in my next blog.
